On Monday, July 21st, 2025, a Paediatric surgery team from Angau Memorial Provincial Hospital arrive at SiPHA for one week of significant surgeries.
The team, led by paediatric surgeon Dr. Alphonse Rongap Jr., brought expertise to SiPHA’s operating theatres, focusing on surgical operations for children with paediatric surgical issues.
Joining Dr. Rongap was Dr. Dan Aisi, Anaesthetist , Dr. Jethro Yuafoho, Anaesthetic Training Registrar, and Sr Botty, a highly experienced OT nurse.
For seven days, the Angau team worked closely with SiPHA’s staff, not only treating young patients but also exchanging insights, strengthening surgical coordination, and mentoring local teams. Their visit brought healing to children and strengthens the spirit of collaboration across provincial health Authorities.
On Friday, the Angau team led a compelling Grand Round session, presenting on the topic “Hirschsprung’s Disease”. Their presentation incited engaging discussion, strengthening clinical knowledge and inter-hospital collaboration.
On Friday, July 25th, SiPHA held a heartfelt farewell and closing ceremony to thank the team. Present during the farewell were Our CEO, Dr Kassi Ken. Acting Curative Health Service Director Dr Joseph Ande, Head of Surgical Department Dr Jan Jaworski and other senior medical officers.
